Support a Women Project

The Bokobora “We Green” Income Generating Project for women is an empowerment program especially targeting women in Naivasha.

Why women? We target women because amongst low income earners in the area they are the backbone of many households. The Project seeks to improve community livelihoods while reducing carbon emissions by adding to forest cover in Naivasha.

The ‘We Green” Project works with single parent households (emphasis on single-mother households), post election violence 2007/2008 orphans as well as HIV/AIDS orphans, women youth groups, and disabled women.

Funds from donors and well wishers in the “We Green” Project enable beneficiaries to plant particular tree, herb, and spice species important for the extraction of essential oils with immediate economic value. This is a unique and improved form of agri-business moving vulnerable communities away from traditional crops such as maize which often fail in Naivasha due to perennial drought.

The beneficiaries are also taught how to harvest raw materials from common yet wild trees that have leaves and fruit utilized in the extraction of essential oils.
